Dear customers,
PhosAgro has become aware of several instances of sales of counterfeit defluorinated feed phosphates produced by Balakovo Mineral Fertilizers (BMF). These cases have involved the sale of diatomite powder (also known as rock flour or mountain flour) as feed additives.
While diatomite powder is relatively harmless for livestock and fowl, it is not intended for agricultural use. The counterfeit product contains none of the phosphate and calcium contents required by livestock and fowl (defluorinated feed phosphates produced by BMF contain 16±1% calcium and 22.2±0.4% phosphor, by weight)
The fraudsters are targeting small and medium-sized businesses, offering products supposedly produced by BMF at discount prices. They explain the low cost by claiming that certain business partners have repaid their debts with feed phosphates. To date two organisations have fallen victim to this scam.
Counterfeit feed phosphates can be identified by the lack of a pouring spout in the upper corner of the packaging. In addition, the fake product has a yellowish hue, whereas real defluorinated feed phosphates from BMF have a light grey colour.
To avoid falling victim to such scams, PhosAgro strongly recommends buying products only from official PhosAgro distributors or directly from the producer.
If you have already been fraudulently sold counterfeit PhosAgro products, or have been made suspicious offers to buy PhosAgro products, please inform us by telephone at +7 (495) 232-9689 (ext. 2273) or by email at help@phosagro.ru.
