Alexei Grigoryev, Executive Director of the PhosAgro AG management company delivered a report. His presentation focused on the implementation of the company’s investment and environmental policy and an analysis of the progress made in limiting its environmental impact.
PhosAgro’s production assets are located in the Murmansk region (OJSC Apatit), the Vologda region (OJSC Ammophos, OJSC Cherepovetsky Azot and LLC Agro-Cherepovets) and the Saratov region (LLC Balakovo Mineral Fertilizers). Among the holding company’s priorities are: updating production facilities, introducing new technologies and improving energy efficiency and environmental safety.
The company has adopted an integrated approach – in addition to upgrading existing and commissioning new production facilities that comply with environmental legislation, PhosAgro is building power plants to provide its chemical plants with on-site generated electricity, reduce their dependence on power suppliers and stepping up energy security. The generators operate primarily on waste steam, which helps reduce environmental harm and make better use of secondary energy resources.
Grigoryev gave a detailed account of the company’s other environmental activities, adding that the set of measures implemented by PhosAgro had resulted in its environmental impact complying with the European Best Available Techniques (BAT) Reference Documents. According to these criteria, PhosAgro plants qualify as “green”.
